A Return to the Paper Trail with Ariana

After a short break from the Paper Trail to make it through a few busy months, I decided to hop back in with April’s Blog Hop featuring Close to My Heart’s Ariana Paper Packet! If you’ve came from Betsy’s Scrap, Stamp Fever!, you are on the right path, if you’ve started here don’t worry we are a circular hop and if you follow the links you will end up right where you started!

Ariana is a beautiful old fashioned floral that is perfect for so many occasions.  With three exclusive colors, Ariana Gray, Ariana Green and Ariana Coral it was a fun paper to work with.  It was also the first time that I had worked with the Cricut Craft room changing sizes and removing cut outs with the hide contour button.

I have really been concentrating on catching up my scrapbooks and although I’ve done lots of pages of fun activities that Miss H and I have done, I have failed to scrapbook the most exciting day of my life – the day nearly 5 years ago that she made her grand entrance!  So the Ariana Papers inspired me to scrapbook our “Sweet Baby Girl”

I started by picking which photos I wanted from that day and realized I must have been more intent on holding our precious little princess than getting pictures!  I then found a layout pattern from Make It From Your Heart Vol. 2 that I thought would showcase the pictures I had.  I highly recommend both volumes of the Make It From You Heart books, both are full of patterns inspired by Jeanette Lynton.

I altered the pattern just a bit by bordering the floral section with one border cut easily with the Cricut Art Philosophy cartridge, cutting the pennant shape and filling in it’s lacy end.  I also chose to add the title area where the pattern indicated an area to journal.

I wanted to give a close up of both a banner and a heart border that were cut in Ariana Green and backed with Ariana Coral.  Although they are different the hearts tie them together and what better way to express the love of a new baby!

The last thing that I’d like to highlight is how important it is to document the details.  I go back and forth between computer and hand-written storytelling.  I finished off the journal card with a pink bow from the Ariana assortment.

I’ll be featuring more artwork with Ariana through out the month, so I hope you’ll come back and visit, but for now please visit Patricia’s Creative Corner – she’s “Down Under” but if you follow the link you can get there in a hop, skip and a jump it will be worth your time as she does some amazing artwork!

  2. Tracey, I love your details! The hearts are so sweet. This is one of my favorite layouts in MIFYH2. Great job! Oh, and I thought the first photo was a baby card – it’s a great idea for one!
