1,2,3 Craft! Make It From Your Heart #19

I love any reason to send a card and with Halloween upon us I decided this might just be the perfect card for the October 1, 2, 3 Craft! Blog Hop.  I’m not sure if you noticed, but last month’s hop grew by one and I’m so excited that Darlys decided to play along with us.  Her work is absolutely amazing!

I’m taking a chance that all will post right, because as you read this I should be on the way to Salt Lake City for a little “girl time” before the Close to My Heart Album Retreat this weekend.  I have been looking forward to this little get-away for months and am excited that Betsy and I are going to be devouring the town two days before the Album Retreat starts.  Literally “devouring”…she asked me what I wanted to do and I said EAT and SHOP and EAT and SIGHT SEE and EAT, I’m sure you get the picture!  When I found out that Darlys was going to be there too that was just like frosting on the cupcake…I just wish Mary could have come along with us!  Can you imagine?!

This month our challenge is to use Make It From Your Heart Pattern #19 – the Make it From Your Heart volumes (there are two of them currently) are essential guides for creating beautiful scrapbook layouts and cards.

My card inspiration was the clear pillow box on page 84 of the Autumn/Winter Idea Book.   I deconstructed the  card sketch a little, by adding a solid line of the Bronze Shimmer Trim down the edge (have I mentioned how much I love this stuff…I now own it in every color we offer – it is my GO TO accessory!)    The paper packet is the stripe from Babycakes and I added chocolate and juniper as my accents.  I fussy cut the skeleton from the Creepy Creatures set and accessorized him with the sentiment and pumpkin from Perfect Fit Halloween.

1,2,3 Craft! Heart Tag

Thanks for stopping by our very mini hop where we are showcasing cards made from the wonderful Close to Heart Originals Card Confidence Program.  This month our featured card is the Heart Tag found on page 126.  I decided to make this sweet little card just as it is featured in the book but swapping the location of the B & T paper to the bottom half of the card.

I love small cards that pack a big punch and this one at 4 3/4 X 3 is perfect to slip into a computer bag or backpack to remind someone  you love them.  My card features the Laughing Lola papers which is one of my favorites from the Autumn/Winter idea book.  I added some white stitch lines with our chalk marker and tied it up my heart with some pretty black ribbon.  For a list of the items I used on this card and a link to purchase them please scroll to the bottom of the post.

Now hop on over to Betsy and Mary’s blog and see what they’ve done with this cute little sketch.

1,2,3 Craft! Button Trio

Where does the time go? I can’t believe that it’s time for another 1, 2, 3 Craft! posting. This month I chose the Button Trio pattern from the Originals pattern book. I have been playing with old paper packets and ran across the La Belle Vie and decided it was the perfect paper to use for a sympathy card and I loved how the sentiment fit at the top of the page. I chose to use the flower from the “Just for You” My Acrylix stamp set and stamped the stitching in black and did a combination of Desert Sand and Blush on the petals. I hope you’ve enjoyed my posting and will now hop over to Mary’s blog where you will be sweetly surprised at her artwork this month.

1,2,3 Craft! Pattern 20

Make It From Your Heart, the new publication from Close to My Heart Founder Jeanette Lynton’s How To Library is an amazing book of sketches for both scrapbooking and card making.  This month for 1, 2, 3 Craft! we are showcasing Pattern 20.  I never seem to have enough birthday or thank you cards on hand so I’m really trying to build my stash.

I really had fun using up some scrap pieces of the Roxie kit for this first card.  I have a dear friend with a birthday at the end of this week so it should be arriving in her mailbox soon.  I added a little bling with the Clear Sparkles Flourish and Silver Shimmer Trim.  Close to My Heart offers so many choices of birthday stamps and with a change in paper or ink they can be used over and over to create many different cards.

As you can see, I rotated my next card just 1/4 of a turn and got a whole different look using the same general pattern.  The Dream Pop papers which are available through the end of May (or as supplies last) make for a yummy background for this sweet cupcake, I topped it off with some mini clear Bitty Sparkles and a Pink Glitter Gem for a cherry.  I actually chose to use this card as a Thank You card, but it could be used for anything from a birthday to just a generic “hello”.

Now why don’t you pop on over to Betsy and Mary‘s Blog to see what they’ve been crafting up for you.

1,2,3 Craft! A Message Secured

Do you know what today is?  No…not Tax Day…it’s the 15th which means it’s time again for the 1, 2, 3 Craft! Blog Hop.

This month we are featuring a pattern from the Originals Card Confidence program by Jeanette Lynton, A Message Secured.  Her books are absolutely amazing and so inspiring!  I went outside the box a little and modified my closures from the pattern included in the book by featuring cuts from the Cricut Art Philosophy Cartridge for my closures.

This card pattern lends itself to all types of cards and the message is actually “securing” the closure of the card.  The tabbed area is attached to the back and then the ribbon ties the card closed.  I love a card that makes the recipient “work” for their wishes!

You can see the versatility in the pattern as the top card is done in a horizontal layout, which after I started looking at it might be a great layout for a little mini album to mark a celebration such as a wedding or anniversary.

The second card uses absolutely no B & T paper…just stamps, paper and ink.  The stamp set is the retired Friendship Puzzle but one that I reach for time and time again.

The last card is using up the last of my Claire paper packet…I think I need to get some more of this ordered =)

Now…hop on over to Betsy and Mary’s blogs to see what they have in store for you.  I’ll see you back soon!

Happy Crafting!
