Anything But Basic Christmas – Color Dare #270

Happy Friday and welcome to another week of the Color My Heart Color Dare.  This week we are featuring  the colors: Mink, Heather, Espresso, White Daisy and a Red of your choice along with Optional Gold.

I chose Pomegranate for my red and used B&T from the Basics Fundamentals Pack to give my Mink Base some texture.  I used a wreath, poinsettia, pinecone and snowflake from the Cricut Flower Market cartridge to bring my card some holiday cheer.

OK, now it’s YOUR turn!  The full details on how to join the fun is in the sidebar of our homepage.  Each color dare is open until 9:00 CDT on Thursday!

While at the homepage – check out what the other design team members have created and leave them a little love (comments make our day)!

Up Up and Away

Can you tell I’ve been spending a lot of time in the Craft Coop?  I can’t think of anyplace I’d rather hang out – OK maybe Disneyland or Hawaii or on our patio with friends, but you get the idea!

Since I’m on my mission to bring back real birthday wishes to my friends and families mailboxes instead of their Facebook wall (who likes graffiti right?) I decided that I better start building my stash and since I was thinking about the versatility of stamping versus a coloring book I continued on my search to see what color-able stamps I had.

The Balloon Wishes stamp set really fits the bill.  It is a GORGEOUS hot air balloon and since I see Hot Air Balloons dotting our sky almost every day it seemed only appropriate to add this stamp set to my collection.

This card is a 5X7 – a size I don’t tend to make often, but the balloon’s size lends it to fill up that space.  I used just a simple strip of silver shimmer trim to accent the black & white.  I think it makes a striking card just as it is.

Is there someone on your birthday list that likes to color?  Maybe send them a card in black and white that they can color themselves or better yet include the Balloon Wishes stamp set with their card!

Thanks for stopping by…see you back real soon!

Watercolors

MarchOpt

Welcome to the Close to My Heart Watercolor Blog Hop!  We will be featuring Close to My Heart’s Watercolors – a flip top paint box with 36 colors.  If you have come here from Vickie’s Blog, you are on the right path! The blog hop is a great big circle, so you can start here and work your way all around.  If you get lost along the way, you’ll find the complete list of participating consultants on Melinda’s Blog:  http://ifyoublingit.blogspot.com/p/stamp-of-month-blog-hop-list.html.

I loved watercolors as a child…I remember how excited I’d get when I got a new flip top paint box.  The feeling was about the same when Close to My Heart revealed it’s Watercolor Palette at convention last year.  This month we have 30 Close to My Heart Consultants sharing their art with the watercolors make sure you hop around because you will be amazed at all the great techniques.

Even though I love the watercolors I haven’t had much time to play with them.  So when my son asked for a card for his employers niece that was turning one I thought this would be the perfect opportunity.  I cut the watercolor paper with the Cricut Artfully Sent cartridge to create the Birthday Girl Pocket Card.  I then painted it all in pink and let it dry.  I then used a purple, green and blue to flick on splatters.  It was a lot of FUN!  Once everything was dry I mounted it to a piece of Pear CS and then to a 5X7 White Daisy Card.  The banners were cut from the Penelope B&T’s.  The balloon was stamped in Thistle Ink and popped up with 3D foam tape.  The Balloon is part of the Artiste Cricut cartridge coordinating stamp set.

My son was really happy with the card – so in my world that’s a grand-prize ribbon.

Now “Hop” on over to Kathy’s Blog to see her work! Be sure to visit all the Consultants at their Blogs to get some great crafting and other fun ideas!

When I was trying to decide what card I was going to make I ran across this video and decided it was a must include in my blog.  Jill from Close to My Heart Corporate shares 7 things you can do with watercolor and explains in simple steps how to accomplish the look.

2 For 1 AHSC #138

I’ve decided that my mind works in mysterious ways.  First of all, when I looked at this weeks sketch from the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge all I could see was water – waves upon waves.  Maybe I need a vacation to the ocean!

I decided that I wanted to do something totally out of the box for me so I started thumbing through my Cricut guides and these glasses popped right off the page at me.  They have wavy lines – right?  Then I decided since I hadn’t played with my Operation Smile stamp set yet that this cute little mouse  with huge glasses would be just the stamp to use!  Totally goofy right?  But I wasn’t done!

I’d also seen a card in the Annual Inspirations Book that I have been wanting to recreate – Idea Book = Inspiration!!!  So, my Cricut got another workout this time cutting a background with lines and scallops.

Since I only wanted the bottom half of the card to have the design I cut part of the die cut piece off.  I then lined the card with shimmer trim (that was the hardest part making sure it showed where I wanted).  I then stamped the card with a soon to be released stamp “You’re One of a Kind”!  This card has a LOT of sparkle!

Thanks for stopping by – I love reading your comments so please let me know what you think.  Stop by the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge to see what everyone else is doing with this sketch.

Put A Little Spin on Your Christmas

This card base can be found on the While Supplies Last of my webpage, it is a card that gives a little extra wow!  You can’t see it well in this picture, but the circle spins in the window…it’s much easier to see in my finished card so let’s get started!

I’ve been playing with some retired papers and this Snowhaven packet is almost new – I think I hoarded it!

075

I started by cutting strips in different widths at 2 1/2 inches long and then pieced the front of the card.  The silver and black shimmer trim added just a tiny bit of glitz!  I layered an Art Philosophy cut scalloped circle on the circle in the window and then mounted the sentiment from Double Merry (a new M size stamp) and a couple of banners at the bottom with clear sparkles finishes off the front, but wait there’s more…

077

The scalloped circle has a back side – it’s like two cards in one.  On this side I mounted an Art Philosophy cut snowflake.  The awesome part of this card is if you “wind it up” before putting it in the envelope when your recipient gets it they get a little surprise!

These cards are available While Supplies Last in a package of 10 for just $8.95.  Get yours before it’s too late!

Pretty Pink Petals

A couple of years ago my son came to me and asked me to start making birthday and Christmas cards for him to give, I felt it was the best complement that I had ever been given.  When he asked me to make a card for his boss from the crew the other day I was blown away.

He told me she liked pink and flowers and it just so happened that the Blossoming Expressions stamp set had just been delivered and I’d seen an awesome card from Michelle Loncar on Pinterest.  I needed a 5 X 7 card so that there was plenty of room for everyone to sign so the large panel random stamped on the front really fit the bill.

I haven’t two-step stamped in ages and it was so much fun.  I even highlighted the flowers with some Wink of Stella for a little glitz.  Apparently the card was a hit!

Sweet Treats – AHSC #122

Here I am back with another Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge.  Sketch 122 was a little challenging for me.  I had lots of ideas and picking just one came down to asking my Wrangler wearing sweetheart for some input.

Next to birthday, Halloween cards are my favorite.  I think it’s a sweet treat to find a card in the mailbox for an unexpected holiday – EVERYONE sends Christmas cards, right?!

I started by stamping the One Way Borders stamps in Sunset, Gypsy, Pear and Black.  I then stamped the Trick or Treat Sweets in black on the circles.  It seemed a little boring to me so I added a Gypsy zig zag circle which I cut from the Art Philosophy Cartridge and adhered the black cat to it.

If you don’t have a Close to My Heart consultant you are welcome to follow the link and shop from my webpage.
