Double Trouble #93

It’s time for more trouble…Double Trouble Papercrafting Challenge that is.

Our challenge consists of three parts: Trouble Makers main challenge, Double Dares challenge to link with another blog which you may or may not decided to participate in and Twisted Sisters surprise challenge! You can find all the details on the rules page of the challenge blog.

This Challenge is one of my favorites because Trouble Maker can’t tell me what to do…it’s a Something, Anything, Everything Challenge.

I took inspiration from the Close to My Heart Seasonal Catalog and joined used the sketch at Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #438. I used Mulberry cardstock cut with the Stitched Lattice Background Thin Cut, added a tag from the Mix In collection and die cut and colored images from the Pumpkin Treats stamp set.

I hope you’ve enjoyed my card and will consider joining our challenge. If you’d like more inspiration visit my team members at Double Trouble.

AHSC #360

Happy Tuesday! I spent a little time in the Craft-Coop today – although it’s closed to the public, it’s my place to control the anxiety this pandemic is causing.

I decided that on top of making some Easter Cards and organizing my space that I’d play along with the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #360.

I loved the sketch for these weeks challenge and thought that black & white with a pop of bright colors (Candy Apple, Lagoon & Sapphire) would be cheerful to find in a mailbox. The sentiment comes from a set in the March/April catalog Sentiments & Stitches.

I’m hoping to find lots of crafting time while things are closed so I hope you’ll stop back often to see what I’m up to. For now, instead of social distancing won’t you please leave me a comment or a virtual hug!

Thanks so much for stopping by.

Double Trouble #21

Have you heard the buzz? The Double Trouble Team has paired up with the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge for the next two weeks. Trouble Maker is tip-toeing thru the Tulip Bulbs…demanding that we give her flowers after this long cold winter. Twisted Sister is all a flutter after signing up for a Birds & Bees Class on Valentines Day and would like you to use something with wings or something “B”-related or the word Buzz or Bzzz on your project.

The Atlantic Hearts Team gave us permission to share both of their upcoming sketches a little early so make sure that you are visiting their page and linking to the correct sketch

For my first card I chose to use a soft color combination of Sugar Plum, Ballerina and Peach for my flowers and Sage leaves all on a Mink Background which I cut using the Thin Cut Decorative Border Die. I added a tiny little bee which I cut from the Cricut Flower Market Cartridge.

My second card is my least favorite to make…a sympathy card! I used a Wreath Builder template and stamped flowers in a circular pattern to form my wreath…I didn’t leave quite enough room to include my sentiment at the bottom, but I actually liked it better layered across the flowers. The Willow layer was embossed with a honeycomb embossing folder for my “BEE” requirement.

Don’t forget that Double Dare has provided you the links to Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenges over on our home page with the complete challenge information.

I hope you’ll take some time and join in the fun!

Hope – Atlantic Hearts #286

When I saw this weeks Atlantic Hearts Sketch I knew exactly what I was going to do.  I love it when an idea just pops into my head and I can run with it.

As I mentioned in my previous post the Ribbon Warrior campaign is hitting me close to home and I’m a firm believer that support from friends & family makes a huge difference.

I chose a color palette from the Love of Color – Mint, Linen and Ballerina.  The mint background was embossed with the rose embossing folder and a stitched circle was added in Linen – I then stamped the ribbon and cut with the matching thin cut – I made a banner and stamped Hope as my sentiment.  I finished the card with some sparkles.

I have a dear friend in breast cancer treatment so this card is on it’s way to hopefully cheer her along her journey.

Hello Pumpkin – Atlantic Hearts #285

Wake up – feed a calf – drink coffee – create…that was my agenda today and I had my favorite niece to keep me company so we accomplished lots in the Craft-Coop – she even swept the floor!!!

Before she came I knew I wanted to steal a few minutes to make a card for the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge.  I always look at their sketch on Monday morning – I don’t always participate, but sometimes I just can’t resist the urge!

Michelle’s sketches are always top-notch and I love that she adds things like little banners and most of them also include where to place the sentiment.

I grabbed the Hello Pumpkin Papers & Cardmaking Stamp Set to line up a row of jack-o-lanterns.  Since I didn’t have a solid color background I added an additional banner with my Hello Pumpkin sentiment.

I encourage you to take a look at some of the fabulous challenge blogs when you are looking for some inspiration.  Whether it’s a color challenge, a sketch challenge or theme challenge there’s something out there to get your mojo flowing!

A Little Help From My Friends

I’d like to let you in on a little secret…when I’m in a hurry or just lacking some mojo the first place I turn is a Challenge Blog.  Being a new member of the Double Trouble Design Team has exposed me to a bunch of new challenges, but I can’t let my old standbys go on without a little love.

This week is one of the most popular weeks at the Color My Heart Color Dare Challenge – it’s a Tic Tac Toe week – we provide the Color Board and you decide which row you want for the win.  I chose a Designer Paper that had most of the colors in it from the retired Documented papers.

I also really liked Sketch #280 over at Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge.  I knew exactly how I wanted to work this card with one of the wood titles from Documented.  I hadn’t used any of them yet and with the heart in the upper corner I decided an anniversary card was right up my alley.  I have dear friends celebrating 32 years of wedded bliss this week so I thought that was a huge reason to get a card – seriously I don’t know how she’s put up with him that long, LOL!

Well that’s it for today…I wanted to share how I get a little help from my friends and hope that maybe you’ll give each of these sketch challenges a try too.

Double Trouble #4.5

Well, here we are half way through our Double Trouble Challenge #4.  You can find all the details for this challenge here.

Since we are linked up with the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge which is a weekly challenge I am choosing to share my second weeks card now.

Isn’t this a great sketch?  I grabbed papers from the Fresh Air packet and inked up a pair of Cowboy Boots for a masculine birthday card.  I always thought there were more girls in our family, but lately there has been a run on “boy” cards.

I hope you’ll take some time to play along with both the Double Trouble Challenge #4 and the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge.  I appreciate you stopping by.  Take a minute and let me know what you think about our new challenge.

Double Trouble #4

Welcome back…it’s nice to see that I’m not the only one that follows the lead of Trouble Makers 🙂  Seriously, we’re so excited to see so much participation in our challenges.

This week Thing 1 has a 3,2,1 challenge – now I’ve been around the challenge arena (can you tell I’m a farm-girl at heart) a time or two, but this was something new to me.  I thought it was fun and hope you do, too!

Here’s a run-down of her challenge:

  • 3 Colors – use only three colors on your project
  • 2 Word Sentiment – choose something like Happy Birthday, Get Well, Thank You – y’all get the idea right?
  • 1 Stamped Image (your stamped sentiment doesn’t count)

After last weeks fiasco with my hair I’m back to blonde and can’t wait to get even with my Arizona Sisters, but it’s going to have to wait until after their HOT, DRY summer – which got me to thinking about embossing so my twist is to use either DRY or HEAT embossing on your project.  Of course this twist is completely optional, but I’d love to show those girls something and have EVERYONE use some sort of embossing on their project!!!

My card features, Bashful, Juniper and Tangerine and a great sketch from the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Team who agreed to link up with us this week and next (I’ll be back next Monday with a Double Trouble 4.5).

Our Thing 3 challenge is to link up to the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge #271 and or next weeks challenge #272.  For now here’s this weeks sketch and by clicking here it will take you right to their post to play along.  Don’t forget when entering there to come back and play with us at the Double Trouble as well.

Thanks for stopping by…I’m looking forward to seeing your 3,2,1 challenge entries at Double Trouble.

Sending Lemony Smiles

It’s the last day of May and I realized I have not expressed my love of the May Stamp of the Month, Classic Summer Bash, nearly enough!

I invested in a Misti stamping tool and have been looking up techniques on Pinterest and found a great video on how to create a wreath template and my brain went to work.  I had seen that Atlantic Hearts Sketch #266 was featuring a wreath so combining the two,  then I stumbled upon the Heart to Heart When Life Hands You Lemons challenge and it all came together for me to participate in a couple of challenge and accomplish my goal of sharing one more card with this sweet stamp set.

Make sure that you don’t waste anytime getting the May Stamp of the Month – it goes away at midnight tonight!  You can click on the picture below and go straight to my shopping page where you can add the stamp set to your cart.

Thanks for stopping by, I hope you’ve enjoyed my card…my new motto is “when life hands you lemons – grab the Tequilla and Salt”

Update:  My card was selected to the Top 3 at Atlantic Hearts…beyond thrilled!!!

Holiday Love – Atlantic Hearts #236

Well, I think I’m on a lucky roll with the sketches for the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge!  This week the fun challenge uses a stripe background and two images perfect for me to pair with the Gingerbread Friends stamp set that was sitting on my desk.

img_7640

As soon as I saw the sketch I knew exactly which paper I wanted to use – this bold stripe from the Enchantment Fundamental pack.  The lines are a little wonky, but I felt it mixed with the whimsical gingerbread couple.  I stamped the sentiment directly onto the B&T paper.

I hope you enjoy my take on the sketch and will maybe even give it a try…you can find all the details for entering at the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge.
