Owl Always Love You

Did you pick up the Share A Smile Card Kit?  I loved the Punny Pals stamp set when it was released, but adding Thin Cuts took my love over the top.

I’m trying to share some new techniques in my Just the Basics card class and this background was a fun one.  I inked an acrylic block directly with my Glacier Ink pad and then spritzed it with water from my Spray Pen and applied it directly to my square of paper.  The fun thing about this technique is you won’t get the same results twice.  I then stamped my sentiment in Memento Black Ink and popped up the owl which I water-colored.

This is such an easy technique and you can also use multiple colors on your block just make sure to use your lightest color first.  You can also use your die-based markers for an additional look.

Thanks for stopping by I hope you’ll give this fun technique a try.

Thanks for stopping by – I hope you’ll take a minute to leave me a little love, I read and appreciate all your comments.

3 Ways From the Heart

Last Monday I told you’d I’d share some samples I’ve made from the September Close to My Heart Special and then the week got away from me. So today I have those cards for you.

My first card is the traditional use of the stamp set from the card kit. Layering the flowers with different inks makes a beautiful card.

My next card was stamped in Memento black ink and colored in. I really like the large sentiment on the front of the card. Inside I layered the flower in the more traditional way.

My third card is a completely different use of the card base, taking a pattern from the Beary Christmas card kit and turning it into a fun fold card.

It is lots of fun playing with this fun fold card kit. One of the tricks is really folding those score lines. Grab your bone folder and you’ll have success.

Thanks for being patient I hope you enjoy these cards.

Thanks Amigos!

Have you visited the Three Amigos Blog Hop Challenge yet?  I’m Guest Designing for the month of September so I’m here to hound you again!  Get linked up people!!!

The Falling for You papers are so fun to work with now that the weather has turned a bit chilly – everything feels like leaves and pumpkins!

Seaglass was a tough act to follow but Close to My Heart’s Color of the Year Bashful has taken a front row on my craft desk.  I’ve actually got tired of hopping up and getting it so I gave it along with the matching glitter paper a place of it’s own.

If you order during the month of September it’s likely you’ll find this card in your bag (or mailbox if you order directly from my webpage.)  It’s one of my favorite sizes 4.75 X 3 –  I can get 4 out of one sheet of cardstock.  That rich yummy brown is Espresso one of the new additions to our recently redesigned basics palette.  It’s difficult to see in the photo, but the arrow under the sentiment is stamped in Bashful – both of these stamps are from the September Stamp of the Month Feel So Blessed.

Do you like little cards?  Leave me a comment and I’ll drop a card in the mail to you.  Thanks so much for taking the time to stop by and make sure you visit the Three Amigos Blog Hop.

Colors From the Heart

September’s  National Stamping Month Card Kit From the Heart gives you all the supplies to make 12 beautiful interactive cards including an exclusive E sized stamp set.

From the Heart!

I was recently asked “what colors should I use to stamp my From the Heart cards?”  Although the choice is strictly yours – you can stamp in black and use watercolors or our ShinHan Touch Twin markers or any combination of our exclusive inks, however the sample artwork prepared by our art department used Slate, Fern, New England Ivy, Thistle, Blossom, Pomegranate, Pixie, Saffron, Canary, and Eggplant.

I hope that you will enjoy putting your card kits together.  Remember that you are not limited to just use this set as designed – you will find many uses for the interactive cards and stamp sets separately.  I will be posting some additional artwork this week I hope you’ll come back and see.

Don’t forget that this special is only available through the end of September or while supplies last – you also have the ability to purchase both the stamp set and refill cards separately at full retail price.

A Good Base

On Monday I posted about the great patterns that are available for our Workshops Your Way kits and I wanted to show you what happens when you just change a few papers around.

Today I wanted to share a couple of cards using the same card pattern, but lots of different twists from the original pattern.

img_7182First up is a birthday card made using the Adventure Fundamentals Paper Packet.

The change from embossed paper to a pattern paper was pretty easy, but I still wanted my card to have some texture so I embossed the  black cardstock banner.

I used the stamps from the card workshop and just interchanged the sentiment.  Finishing off the card were Black & White Dots.

Since the Kind Thoughts kit is made with paper from the Cats & Bats Workshop I thought I’d change a few things up and bring you a spooky Halloween party invitation!

Here’s what I knew when I started this card…I wanted a base of black that I could emboss with the retired Confetti Stars embossing folder to make it look like a night sky.  I wanted to use the “word” B&T paper and I wanted to use a combination of stamps from the Cats & Bats suite of products.

Adding an embossed background really gives your card some great texture.  I love my Big Shot, but if you are limited on space a Cuttlebug will work just fine.  I just kept building on the card as I went along – the cute EEK replaces the circle on my original card and I stamped a spiderweb on the top part of the tag.

Grab this pattern (you can find it here) and make a card using any Close to My Heart papers other than what I’ve used here and share with me on my Papercrafting Princess Facebook page prior to 9/30 for a chance to win a sample packet of papers from the current Holiday Expressions.
