I am sharing a gate-fold card that I made using the Whimsy Fundamentals Collection and the Some Kinda Wonderful stamp and thin cut bundle. This paper collection features fun stripes, dots and words in the beautiful watercolors of the whimsy color family. Each paper has different colors front and back and although not specifically themed which makes it great for year round use, it matches terrifically with the baby girl, baby boy and spring time complements along with the Whimsy Ribbon Pack.
Leave me a comment and let me know which Fundamentals paper collection is your favorite of course I’d also like it if you left a comment about my card.
Now “Hop” on over to my friend Michelle’s Blog to see her work! Be sure to visit all the Consultants at their Blogs to get some great crafting ideas and other fun ideas! Contact your CTMH Consultant (or click here) to learn more about our coordinating products.
Happy Valentine’s Day!
I wanted to let you in on a little of what happened in my life preparing for Valentine’s Day!
This is my grandma’s rolling pin, it’s been missing a handle for as long as I can remember. I think it makes my hubby a little nervous that someday it might come up missing both handles. I combined it with my mom’s sugar cookie recipe to spread a little love. I took some to two of the guys my hubby has coffee with daily – one’s a widow and one’s single! I’m pretty sure they liked them. I also took a couple to my son along with 3 dozen chocolate chip cookies to share with his work buddies. They were definitely a hit!
This is the Valentine that I made for my son…it’s a quick 3X3 using the Emojis set. Super cute in my opinion with the fundamentals heart paper perfect for someone that cares much more about the cookies than the card 🙂 I get it!
This card for my boss is stamped using a retired stamp set. I even think she’ll like the punny Valentine wish.
This card is going to my sweet co-worker. She is definitely the sprinkles on my ice-cream! I topped the cute cone with some of the coordinating Sugar Rush Dots, you can barely see them in the photo. That little row of hearts at the bottom of the white panel is the Sugar Rush Washi tape…sweet huh? LOVE this Sugar Rush paper, I’m on my second pack already!!!
One of my favorite things about card making is being able to customize my cards. This last Valentine is going to my sweetheart. He is the best Valentine a girl could ask for. If you see me in person ask about our first Valentine’s Day Date – I knew up front what I was cut out for and decided he was a KEEPER!!! This stamp set is from My Favorite Things a new to me company (like I needed another stamp company in my life). I fell in love with this girl and her dog and knew I needed to get it to make my Valentine card for him. The papers are from the Close to My Heart Fundamental line mixed with a little black cardstock, everything was colored with the Shin Han markers. I hid it on his dash board so he found it on his way to work this morning. LOVE that guy!
I just got notice that Close to My Heart is having a surprise SWEET SALE this afternoon – it’s start at 2:00 PST so hop on my OBA and see what you can find. Remember last week when I told you I’d be back with more artwork using the Wreath (A1193) stamp set? Well, here I am!
This 4.25 X 5.5 card is still mainly using products that you can get when you host a Close to My Heart Gathering. The Memo Fundamentals is quickly becoming a favorite product (as a matter of fact I just ordered more). Priced at just $4.95 how can it not be a favorite? The burlap ribbon is from the Rustic Home Ribbon Pack – just enough to really dress up my card. Peacock hearts (stamped from another stamp set, but just as easily hand-doodled) and Bitty Sparkles finish things off.
Close to My Heart has an amazingly generous Hostess Program. For as little as $150 in sales you are rewarded with $25 in free product. When you hear $25 it doesn’t seem like much but here’s how it breaks down in product.
- A1193 My Acrylix® Wreath
- Z3294 Memo Fundamentals
- 1385 12″ x 12″ White Daisy Cardstock
- Z899 Black Memento™ Ink Pad
My goal this month is to show you just how versatile this set of hostess products can be, so I’ll be back again with more artwork using these products.
So while we’re on the subject…what does it take to be a hostess and earn free product. A home gathering might sound like a scary prospect, but it can be a whole lot of fun too! Have you ever thought of having a couple of girlfriends over for a glass (ok maybe two) of wine some evening? Well if you invite me, too, I’ll bring a few supplies and we’ll make a card or two or maybe even a scrapbook layout – the choice is yours! Want some time away from the kiddo’s? Grab your friends and bring them to the Craft Coop – I’ve got lots of bright light and a great big table and thanks to my hubby a new Bose wireless speaker to blast your tunes. Not sure you have time for a girls night out but have a couple of crafty friends? Let’s set up an online party – you’ll get a special link to invite your friends to shop online – no cleaning the house, no baking goodies, items will ship right to their doorsteps and all they’ve had to do is visit a website and shop in their jammies and YOU earn the hostess rewards! Can’t beat that for a win in your column.
I hope you’ll give being a hostess some consideration. Until next time.

Who knew there were so many different techniques when using watercolors? Not me!
This is just a few of the samples that I’ll be sharing on Thursday at my Wonder of Watercolor class and then we’ll pick up the brushes and make three cards.
Have you signed up for any of my classes? You can find them under the events tab on my Facebook page, in the newsletter that I send out monthly and even right here on my blog.
One of the things that I love about Close to My Heart Products is the art of coordination. The selection of Shin Han markers that we offer is no exception.
After a comment on Friday’s blog about “mixing so many colors to get the proper color is a little disturbing” I decided that I needed to tell you that it’s really not hard. It takes a little practice (all you have to do is watch a couple of you-tube videos and you’ll get some great tips). Close to My Heart also provided this wonderful chart on their blog and recently updated it to include our new colors.
Coloring with our Shin Han markers is one of my favorite pasttimes. I’m still practicing with our watercolors and although I love our watercolor pencils they don’t give me the vibrant hues of the markers.
Grab your markers and some white daisy cardstock and give the Shin Han markers a spin. It is super fun to see the colors transform and soon match the different Close to My Heart colors.
Thanks for stopping by!
Do you remember third grade? I do! It seems like forever ago, but I still know my times tables 😉 I’m always looking for an excuse to make a card and this one is headed all the way to Texas where it will hopefully brighten a special third-graders day!
I spent some time looking at some “new to me” challenge blogs and then settled with an old favorite The Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge. It’s just hard not to love it since I was once on the DT.
Sketch #174 has some simple lines that I fell right in love with and knew would be a perfect place to show off some of Close to My Heart’s new ribbon! Yes, ribbon is back in full force in the new catalog – can you see me jumping with joy?
I rotated the sketch counter-clockwise allowing me to use the sentiment I wanted on the front of the card.
That cool B&T paper is from the Fundamental Memo assortment – I feel another pack purchased in my not-so-distant future! I stamped some stars (which almost look hand-drawn) in Emerald Ink directly on the B&T and then layered the sentiment square (rectangle) onto a piece of Emerald CS. The card was finished with some Pansy & White striped ribbon a piece of Emerald Ribbon and some Purple Glitter Gems.
Pansy and Emerald are just two of the new colors in the revamped Adventure Color Family and it’s quickly becoming my favorite color family. The entire Fundamentals Line has been redone so if you don’t have a consultant I’d love to share these new products with you. Just leave me a comment how to reach you or pop over to my Facebook Page (Papercrafting Princess) where you can message me.
