Dear Friend – Color 275

What a fun weekend of creating I just completed.  I spent two nights and two days crafting with 44 other talented ladies at the Dumas Bay Retreat Centre in Federal Way, WA.  The views were breathtaking, the food amazing and the time to concentrate on some projects while spending time with friends was lots of fun.

Even though I’m not on the Design Team for the Color My Heart Color Dare – I still want to participate as I can make time.  This weeks colors are Fern, Heather and Bashful with an option to add Gold.

I picked a new pattern from the Make It From Your Heart 4 – card making pattern book and combined it with stamps from the Chelsea Gardens cardmaking stamp set & die cuts.  You really need to see this card in person to appreciate it’s sparkle.

I used Heather B&T paper from the Basics Collection and layered Fern cardstock & Bashful Glitter paper for my banners.

I stamped the leaf stamp directly on the card base in Fern and the sentiment in Heather.  I stamped and die cut the butterfly image from Bashful cardstock and then gave it’s wings a touch of sparkle with the Bashful Shimmer Pen.  I then finished off the card with a few Gold Glitter Gems.

Make it a beautiful day!

Falling For You- Color Dare 267

It’s Friday…time for another Color Dare!  Have you participated in one of our challenges?  They aren’t hard at all…you have the freedom to create anything you’d like, card, scrapbook layout, home decor item – the only requirement is that you use our Color Challenge and this week you can’t get any prettier choice than the colors of the Falling for You Paper Packet from Close to My Heart.

No automatic alt text available.

Seeing such a huge Color Palette might seem a little daunting but we are only requiring you to use the colors Saffron, Goldrush and Fern and then you get to pick your own neutral using one, two, three, four or all of the neutrals in the Falling for You Color Pack (Nutmeg, Charcoal, Almond, Toffee, Pewter, Espresso and Linen) You can also use White Daisy.

I am in full fall mode and I have sunflowers by my back door so that was the inspiration I took with my card.  I used one of the focal pieces of B&T from the kit to tie in all the colors of our challenge.  My large sunflower was cut using the Cricut Flower Market Cartridge and then popped up on the top panel of my card.  Burlap Ribbon from the retired basics collection wraps around my card and then I popped up my sentiment on a scalloped circle from the Art Philosophy cartridge.  I scattered a few Bronze Sequins to add a little bling.

OK, now it’s YOUR turn!  The full details on how to join the fun is in the sidebar of our homepage.  Remember each of our Color Dare Challenge is open for two weeks so you have until November 9th to get your project submitted.

Toadally Awesome – Atlantic Hearts #235

Did you know that Close to My Heart donates $7 from the sale of each Punny Pals stamp set to Operation Smile?  And did you know that during the month of October you can get an adorable Card Kit with matching thin cuts for just $39.95?  Yep, all those things are true.

I stopped by the Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge Blog this afternoon looking for something fun to do with the Punny Pals stamp set and lucky me I loved the sketch – what’s even better it allowed me to try a new technique that I recently saw on Jennifer McQuire Ink using a stitched rectangle die to make a unique card base.

Close to My Heart’s Two-Toned card stock works perfectly for this technique…you can see just a peek of the lighter shade on the edges.

Flowers just wasn’t the look I was going for so I added a couple of banners and a heart cut from the  Blossom Fundamentals and then popped up my frog.  The sentiment You’re toad-ally awesome was highlighted by a black dot.

Make sure you take a minute to stop by the Atlantic Heart Sketch Challenge Blog this weeks sketch is so fun and would be a great combination with the new Color My Heart Color Dare challenge that will be posted tomorrow.

I appreciate you stopping by…hope you have a toad-ally awesome day.  I love to read your comments so if you have a minute please share your thoughts with me.

My Friend – Color Dare 266

Happy Friday and welcome to another week of the Color My Heart Color Dare.  It’s Pick Your Own Pink Week at the Color Dare, of course we are also requiring that you combine it with Pebble, Pewter, Black, White Daisy and the Optional Silver.

Asking me to pick my own pink is like asking me who is my favorite grandchild, LOL!  I settled on using the three step rose from the Beautiful You stamp set then I could use a good majority of them – Bashful, Blossom, Raspberry.  I also stamped my leaves in Pebble and then the veins were stamped in Pewter.  I love the grays from the Basic Palette.

After stamping my rose I decided to hop by the Atlantic Sketch Challenge to see what Michelle and the gang had up their sleeve for the week.  I loved the sketch I found there so decided to incorporate it with my challenge.

The Ribbon Border Thin Cut worked just perfectly cutting our Bashful Glitter Paper as my accent piece.  I chose papers from the Basic Fundamentals line and a piece of Pewter Cardstock which I embossed with the Rose Embossing Folder (you can only see the peeked out edges on my card).

OK, now it’s YOUR turn!  The full details on how to join the fun is in the sidebar of our homepage.  Each color dare is open for two weeks so you have until November 2nd to create with these colors.

Oh Baby I Miss You

Sometimes when a friend is clear across the country it’s like you lost your balloon.  This 3.5 X 8 card size is not one that I make frequently, but I wanted the balloon to be floating away and just the size of the elephant made that impossible on a smaller card.

Are you in love with this baby elephant stamp from the Sweet Baby stamp set as much as I am?  I can see it being used for lots of cards and since it has a matching thin cuts die it makes it that much more special.

I hope you’ll take a minute and leave a comment on my blog.  I love reading your messages, they really encourage me to keep creating!
