Cats & Bats Treat

Today I have a little treat for you made with the Cats & Bats paper packet.  This folding pop up card packs a lot of wow factor – no tricks!

I have to be honest, I’ve had the instructions for this card for about a year, but I was worried that there was too much measuring and I’d not be happy with the results.  Sunday afternoon I cut all the pieces and sat down to watch the video one more time through each step I paused the video and followed the instructions.  I was feeling some major intimidation, but once I got the mechanism to open and close properly on my first attempt I was a happy girl.

I decorated the front of my card by stamping the cob web from the cats & bats stamp set and adding a creepy spider from the Cricut Artbooking collection I popped it up with a little 3D foam tape and used my gold shimmer brush to give him a little sparkle.  I kept the inside simple just lining the panels with B&T paper and adding pieces from the complements pack.  On the last panel I cut down a PML card for the sentiment.  One more use for those Picture My Life Cards!

Want to learn to make a folding pop up card?  Join me for my “Just the Basics” card class on Thursday, November 2nd where we’ll go beyond the basics with this fun fold.

3 Ways From the Heart

Last Monday I told you’d I’d share some samples I’ve made from the September Close to My Heart Special and then the week got away from me. So today I have those cards for you.

My first card is the traditional use of the stamp set from the card kit. Layering the flowers with different inks makes a beautiful card.

My next card was stamped in Memento black ink and colored in. I really like the large sentiment on the front of the card. Inside I layered the flower in the more traditional way.

My third card is a completely different use of the card base, taking a pattern from the Beary Christmas card kit and turning it into a fun fold card.

It is lots of fun playing with this fun fold card kit. One of the tricks is really folding those score lines. Grab your bone folder and you’ll have success.

Thanks for being patient I hope you enjoy these cards.

Joyful Stars Blog Hop – A Little Birdie

joyful-stars-blog-hop-badge

Welcome to the Joyful Stars Blog Hop for April…a little birdie told me you should have arrived here from my friend Debi Brile’s Blog, but if you are starting here that’s ok too.  We are a circular hop filled with amazing artwork with Close to My Heart products so if you click on the links at the end of each post you’ll eventually end up right back where you started.

As my husband would tell me…let’s roll ’em cowgirl!

This month I’m featuring a gate-fold card using the papers and stamps from the Some Kinda Wonderful product line.  I wasn’t too sure of the patterns in these papers when I saw them in the catalog, but I’ve ended up using them all.  I can’t get enough of the animals and sentiments in this cute coordinating stamp set and since it’s paired with thin cuts, this girl couldn’t be happier!

I’ve also linked my card up to a new challenge blog called Three Amigos.  Their first challenge is to use the Some Kinda Wonderful papers.  If you’d like to link up something too, click here.

If you don’t have a consultant I’d love it if you’d choose me – not local that’s ok too!  I host a mystery hostess party each month on my business page – if you order you’re entered for a chance to be the hostess for that month.  You can also find out about my classes and other happenings if you LIKE my Facebook Page.

Now we’ve reached the time where you can leave me a comment (if you want to make me happy) and then you can hop over to Krista’s Crafty Corner to see her project.

Time to Party – Color Dare #238

Happy Friday and welcome to another week of the Color My Heart Color Dare.  This week we are featuring  the colors: Peacock, Willow and White Daisy.

As you might have imagined the first thing I thought of when I saw this combination was football…not just any football, but Seahawks football.  It would really have been better if the Peacock was Pacifica, but I’ll compromise.

I had a lot of fun with this card.  It’s a 5X7 football invitation.  The time to party sentiment is taken from the Cricut Flower Market collection.  Close to My Heart’s clear stamps make it so easy to divide your images into different colors – here the Time To was inked in Willow and then Party was inked in Peacock – a little huff on the stamp and it was ready to go.  The cute invitation set was sitting on my desk – it’s an exclusive consultant stamp, but was too perfect not to use.

OK, now it’s YOUR turn!  The full details on how to join the fun is in the sidebar of our homepage.  Each color dare is open until 9:00 CDT on Thursday!

While at the homepage – check out what the other design team members have created and leave them a little love (comments make our day)!

Leave me a comment and let me know what your favorite sports team is and you could win a 4 pack invitation set from me.

Daisy Thanks

Tis the season for needing to send thank you cards and this fun card has absolutely no stamping!  I found this card from a sister consultant and knew I had to CaSE it (Copy and Selectively Edit).  Kandi’s card was made with the adorable Whimsy Fundamentals and she was sweet enough to share the demensions – I hope you’ll go check it out and leave her some love.

I switched my papers to the striking black and white of the Uptown Fundamentals collection and added Pomegranate and Seaglass accents.  The Daisy is from the Cricut Flower Market collection.  I have a special fondness for daisies and even used with with chocolate colored centers in my wedding.

Thanks for stopping by!

A Little Thanks – Color Dare #221

Happy Friday and welcome to another week of the Color My Heart Color Dare.  This week we are featuring  the colors:  Goldrush, Poppy, Saffron and Colonial White.

I decided to play with a fun-sized card this week – this bitty card is just 2.5 X 3.5 and it has a 1.25 circle punched in the front to peak through to the stamped area inside.

The Forest Feast stamp set was one of my favorites as soon as I opened the Seasonal Expressions.  Don’t you just love that Colonial White Ribbon…I’m so glad that ribbon has been added back to our supplies.

OK, now it’s YOUR turn!  The full details on how to join the fun is in the sidebar of our homepage.  Each color dare is open until 9:00 CDT on Thursday!

While at the homepage – check out what the other design team members have created and leave them a little love (comments make our day)!

Acorn Z

Welcome back…are you all ready for your Thanksgiving?  I’m baking pies and cornbread (for my hubby’s homemade stuffing) but thought I’d share a fun card.

Open – flap tucks behind acorn

The directions describe this card as a “Z” fold and it fits that description, but it’s got a little twist.  There is an inside panel which when the card is opened slips under the acorn on the front.

I don’t usually make Thanksgiving cards, but this little stamp set really motivated me this year.  If you have a minute to leave me a comment I’d love to know what you think.  Thanks for stopping by!
