Since it’s been a challenge to get in the craft room this week, I’ve had some extra time to hop around and look at some challenges and thought just maybe this little Thank You card might fit the bill for a couple of them.
My card is just a 3X3 I like to keep this size on hand to stick in customer orders – just a nice little treat to find and I think it’s important to give thanks! A Seaglass base with the rainbow paper from Prickly Pear and my all time favorite long-retired M stamp which I colored in with my Shin Han markers. I quick knot of twine and a few Prickly Pear sequins finish things off.
Seriously, if you’re ideas are waning in the heat and over whelming activity of summer take a look at some challenge blogs like Heart to Heart this week they are featuring Fabulous Fonts and Three Amigo’s Blog Hop Challenges where you’ll find Prickly Pear being featured during the month of July. Of course I can’t mention blog hop challenges without mentioning one of my favorites – Color My Heart Color Dare.
Thanks for stopping by…I can’t wait to get back in my Craft Coop and start playing with my new things.
I’ve been crazy busy playing catch up…hubby took me out of town for a couple of days and I really just wanted to be playing in some really fun blog hop challenges.
My friend Sue talked me into playing in the Coffee Lovers Blog Hop – it’s full of amazing art so grab a cuppa joe and visit all the fun entrants.
Last Saturday when I was hanging out with my CTMH peeps I found this cool map paper at the local stamp store and then on another rack around the corner I found the coffee cup brad. Perfect for this Starbucks loving girl. I used a sentiment from Close to My Heart that has since retired, but still worked well.
Thanks for stopping by…I promise to post a few more things over the weekend.
I haven’t taken a lot of time lately to play along with many challenges, but when I saw the Mojo Monday Sketch today I knew exactly what I wanted to do.
Several months ago I had picked up some shaker components from Queen & Company – they just happened to be a star shape, so I immediately reached for them, unfortunately the seed beads and my acetate have a little static attraction. The B&T paper is from the Dreamin’ Big Paper Packet from Close to My Heart when I was creating with it the other day it reminded me of constellations. I wanted one last star effect for this card so I reached for the Star Confetti Embossing Folder.
I had a great time playing with an old challenge. Take a minute and leave me a comment and why not step outside your box and play along with a challenge today!
I paired this weeks Close to My Heart Color Dare with a sketch over at Retro Sketches for another February birthday!
When I saw the sketch I immediately thought Center Step Card and what better than to showcase the Charlotte papers with. I used the Balloon Wishes and Springtime Wishes stamp sets. Since I know this card is going to be delivered in person I loaded it up with embellishments the new Treasured Puffies have become a quick favorite of mine as well as some black and grey sparkles which are long retired.
I hope you’ll take a minute to leave me a comment…thanks for stopping by!
I’m really trying to get my birthday stash replenished and with a little push decided to take a gander over at the Close to My Heart Color Dare – I was pleasantly surprised with the Pixie, Glacier, Thistle and White Daisy that I found waiting for me. Now for a sketch…I wanted to try something new so I took a turn at Freshly Made Sketches, once more I hit the jackpot!
I had a lot of fun pairing the Glacier Houndstooth paper from Zoe with the Thistle Floral from Penelope – now for that Pixie! I used the Brushstrokes stamp for a big base of Pixie, stamped the sentiment in Thistle and started adding embellishments from the Penelope Complements.
Here’s a close up!
This card was lots of fun and fairly quick to put together. I challenge you to take a look around the web for inspiration and stop by the Close to My Heart Color Dare. It’s really fun to make a project when all the hard parts are figured out for you!
Thanks for stopping by!
I am so excited to be selected as the Guest Designer for this weeks Color Dare of Juniper, Canary, Ruby and White Daisy – you might say I’m tickled pink!
I am going on my 10th year (July) with Close to My Heart and although I haven’t participated in the Color My Heart Color Dare for long, it’s a challenge I’ve followed for a while so when I was given the extra little push to try it out I threw my hat in the ring.
It took me five tries to come up with a card that I loved…these colors kept speaking Christmas to me, but luckily now I’m ahead of the game when December rolls around! I was inspired by this card I found on Pinterest by Shana Gaff, but decided to put my own spin on it.
I love that the Art Philosophy cartridge will cut a banner card (p29) and then all the little pieces that go along too! I had quite the collection to put away when I was finished (oh who am I joking, it’s all still there!)
Here’s your shopping list:
- B1476 My Fave
- D1560 Holiday Tags
- D1607 Bodacious Banners

I’d like to encourage you to take the Color Dare Challenge…it’s such a fun place to play.
The challenge issued this week by Close to My Heart on Instagram at #jrlcreativechallenge was to use ShinHan Touch Twin markers. Well, that wasn’t hard for me because I LOVE to color, but I wanted to do something a little different.
My upline had shared a handout using different techniques with the markers and Pointillism was what stuck. This isn’t the true Pointillism technique, but it did give me a sense of doing something different.
What have you done with your markers?
