With Love

We have a wedding to go to next weekend and the invitations featured a beautiful wreath so I thought I’d recreate one on my card for the happy couple.

I started with a pile of branches and leaves that I cut from the Flower Market cartridge.

Have you added this cartridge to your Cricut Cartridge Collection?  I love all the 3D items that you can make…I’m particularly fond of the bicycle and the wagon 🙂

Alas, things were not going together quite as I had pictured so I grabbed a recent purchase and stamped the wreath base on a colonial white circle…I then started layering and it felt like things were coming together a bit better.

This was the look I wanted.  One of my sister consultants had shared a recent wreath card she’d made using the Rustic Fundamentals which seemed like a good choice so out they came with a little Seaglass glitter paper.  my card is done days before the event…I’m impressed with myself, LOL!

I hope you’ll take a minute to tell me what you think of my card.

Color My Heart #143 – Wedding Bling

Oh how I love Black and White with a touch of bling…in the case of the Color My Heart Dare #143 that bling is Gold.

I needed a wedding card, but also had a little girl watching over my shoulder impatiently telling me what I should do differently, I sent her gardening with her granddad but that didn’t last long so I knew my time was limited.  I turned to the Close to My Heart Artfully Sent Cricut Cartridge and found this cute wedding cake.  I don’t care much for the 5 X 7 cards so I sized it down to 5.5″, then I decided I didn’t want an all black card so I cut it apart and it became the front panel of a white card.  I then cut the ribbons from a piece of Gold Glitter Paper and glued them on with my glue pen.  Super simple.

The inside was stamped with Congratulations and then the wedding ring icon from the same cartridge was cut at 4.25 and mounted underneath.

I cherish my wedding cards and just recently went back and read all the kind wishes.  I hope you have been inspired to take a look at black, white and gold and see what you can make today.

Owl Love

I saw a cute card on Pinterest with penguins in wedding attire, but I don’t have the punch to make the little critters, so I thought I’d try my hand with the owls from the Artbooking Cricut Cartridge.

Owls Wedding

I had a leftover Skylark complement to use for a wedding bouquet and a little teal shimmer trim worked to give the tuxedo a little bling.

Close Up Owls

Here’s a close up of the owls…bitty pearls made a sweet little necklace and I just happened to hoarde a bow tie from the retired puffies collection.

I’m open for some suggestions on this card and would love to see someone make it over…Owl Love You if you come up with a better idea!!!

Nice Neutral Newlyweds

Welcome to the Everything ABC’s Blog Hop!

For this hop we will be featuring the letter N.  This may be the name of a paper, a stamp set or an embellishment.  Whatever the crafter has chosen as their M element will be featured in their post.

If you have just hopped onto my blog, please start at the beginning at Linda’s blog ~ Scrappy Therapy.  If you’re coming from >>> you’re on the right path.

My “N” is two fold…a neutral card using the Newlyweds stamp.

I love Close to My Heart’s Embossing Folders  the Damask Embossing Folder leaves such a nice clean, deep impression.  I especially love using it on our white daisy cardstock for it’s elegant look.  I wanted a simple and elegant look for this wedding card so I kept with a neutral palette of black & white.  The card front is tied with a piece of black Baker’s Twine and the Newlywed car is mounted on 2 inch square cut from the Art Philosophy cartridge, the square is then cut again at 2 1/4 from Black Glitter Paper.  I know I’ve mentioned that I love our Glitter Paper because it doesn’t “shed” and works slick as a whistle in the Cricut.

As you know I think it’s just as important to decorate the inside of the card so after stamping “Oh Happy Day” from the Artiste Collection Bundle I topped it off with silver and black Shimmer Trim.

I hope you’ll hop on over to Catherine’s Catscrapbooking where you’ll discover her use of the letter N.

Thanks for stopping by!

Wedded Bliss

I’ll finish off the week with a few wedding cards that I made on Monday.

I love the classic elegance of black and white and my For Always paper stash is nearing it’s end.  Here I added the silver glitter paper and a pattern from Make It From Your Heart to complete this elegant card.  A simple Best Wishes and a couple of pearl opaques and this card really stays elegant.

The “Just Married” car on this card is from the line of mini stamps which I love.  The car with it’s cans attached remind me of a prank that my Wrangler Wearing Sweetheart pulled on my mom.  Sneaking to her house after dark and attaching beer cans to her car which then rattled and clanked as she backed out of her driveway the next morning.

I used the Ivy Lane papers on the first card and cut the “LOVE” sentiment with my Cricut.  The second card was made using Kraft cardstock and the diagonal piece is from the Skylark paper pack.  I ran the lagoon piece through the Chevron Embossing folder to give the card texture.  I used simple embellishments of teal glitter tape and a sparkle flourish.  I also stamped the car a second time and pop dotted the uncolored sign.

I love making wedding cards that can be color coordinated with the wedding colors.  I know that four years later I still enjoy looking at my wedding cards and the love that was shared on our happy day and hope that these will be cherished as well,.

This is all of my cards for now.  Stop by Sunday morning when I’ll be sharing some fun artwork with the Jubilee paper packet on the Paper Trail Blog Hop.

Happy Crafting!

Avonlea Graces Paper Trail With Elegance in December

Thanks for stopping by and checking out the beautiful Avonlea Paper Packet featured on the Paper Trail Blog Hop, if you have made your way here from Amy’s Blog you are on the right track if not that’s ok, we are a circular hop and if you follow the links you’ll end up right back here!

This catalog has really challenged me to pick a favorite paper and I have to Avonlea is in the top three!  As soon as I saw the paper, I knew that although it screamed WINTER with the beautiful snowflake patterns it had so much more to offer with its elegant colors.  The  paper packet features three seasonal colors Avonlea Off-White, Avonlea Teal, Avolea Green which coordinate perfectly with our newly released Slate Cardstock.  Of course a touch of Chocolate or Smokey Plum as featured in the Workshop on the Go Avonlea Card Making Kit  gives you some amazing pops of color for accents.

My first card features a teal and slate background with just a hint of the large patterned paper, I wanted to feature a rosette of green and topped it with a crocheted flower and brad from the Antiqued Gold Mini-Medley Accents Collection.

My second card was cut from the Artiste Cartridge and the “Congrats” stamped in Slate is from the coordinating Artiste Stamp Set.  A touch of Silver Shimmer Trim (my favorite new accessory) makes a very elegant card perfect for a wedding!

Once again I thank you for stopping by and hope you’ll check back again to see what else I’ve done with this versatile kit.  Believe me, I have several things up my sleeve.  Now head on over to the Vicki’s Wizards Hangout and be ready to be awed!
