Double Trouble #35

There is no better way to start a Monday than with a little trouble – A Double Trouble Papercrafting Challenge that is!

Our challenge for the next two weeks (8/5 -8/18 ) is a 3-2-1 Recipe with the fun twist of adding something nautical, you can also get extra points in our prize draw by linking to our Challenge Partner Try Stamping At Tuesday . You can find all the details and link up your creations by visiting our challenge blog.

My card was made using the retired Tommy Paper Packet and the Epic Birthday stamp set. I have been going through my older paper packets and trying to use them up. I’m also trying to restore my birthday card stash for the 2nd half of the year. I really love the sketch from Try Stamping on Tuesday and hope that you will play along too.

C.A.S.E. with H2H

I did it, I did it…I got all the February challenges completed for the Heart 2 Heart Challenge Blog!

This weeks challenge is C.A.S.E. which means Copy and Steal Everything! There are so many talented artists out there to be inspired by, but Heart 2 Heart wanted us to “copy and put our spin on a project from the current Seasonal Expressions Idea Book”.

I don’t think there is a greater form of flattery than when someone wants to copy your work…unfortunately I fell victim to someone that was unscrupulous a few months ago that actually stole a piece of my artwork and put their own stamp on it. It’s important to also give credit where credit is due when inspired by a card.

My inspiration came from page 84 of the Seasonal Expressions 1 A Birthday in Watercolor. The talented artists at Close to My Heart are always an inspiration!

My spin was to use a B&T paper from the Seasonal Mix-Ins paper packet and choose a color combination from the Love of Color – Glacier, Sweet Leaf & Thistle. I also didn’t have the puffy sticker embellishments (what’s wrong with me) used on the original card so I used I Heart Us sequins mixed in with the spatters.

I hope you will look at the Close to My Heart Catalogs more than just a place to shop, but also as a source of inspiration. Find a card that you love and share it with the Heart to Heart Challenge Blog.

Thanks for stopping by…see you soon!

Black & White +1 – Color Dare #326

Happy Friday and welcome to another week of the Color My Heart Color Dare.  The Color My Heart Color Dare Design Team took our extended December Challenge time to rework our challenges for 2019. I for one am truly excited. You can expect some innovative and interesting Color Challenges with more choice & flexibility. We’ll still be offering our ever popular Tic Tac Toe and Monochromatic Challenges, but have added Love of Color Challenges based on the new How To Book from Close to My Heart along with Inspirational Mood Boards.

This week our challenge is to use Black & White and only one other splash of color.

As I looked out my Craft Coop Windows into a dreary, cold day I decided that I needed to add a pop of Lemon to my Black & White Card.

The Black & White B&T papers came from the Seasonal Mix Ins. I’m quite excited about this new paper offering from Close to My Heart. It’s a smaller pack that coordinates well with all of the current paper packets – they replaced our paper fundamentals line and have become a quick favorite.

OK, now it’s YOUR turn!  The full details on how to join the fun is in the sidebar of our homepage.   Our Weekly Challenges are open for two weeks and you have until January 31st to enter Challenge #326. While you are visiting our home page make sure you check out what the other design team members have created and leave them a little love (just as you love comments on your artwork – we love yours too)!

A Love of Color Birthday

If you haven’t added the Love of Color How To Book to your collection of stamping must haves rush right over to my website and add it to an order NOW! Each color has been dedicated a two page spread which includes breathtaking artwork and multiple color combinations it also fits perfectly in the Every Day Life album.

I have always used our paper packets as a reference guide for making cards and scrapbook layouts, but the Love of Color has become a new go-to. I notice that I am now using colors that I never would have thought to use.

It’s easy to know that Pixie and Raspberry go together and I had a feeling that Mint would blend perfectly, but I never would have thought to add a touch of Sweet Leaf and although the recommendation was to use Charcoal; I grabbed my other favorite neutral – Black. Using the Washi Tape from the Hello Pumpkin cut down to 1/4 inch strip and some black dots really gave my card the perfect pop.

If you’d like to shop for the Love of Color How to Book or any of the other products available please visit my webpage at http://www.papercraftingprincess.ctmh.com I always have a Mystery Hostess party available to shop from and when you place your order that way you might just end up with the some free CTMH products too!

It’s OK to be Blue – Color Dare #319

Blue is the color of the sky and sea. It is often associated with depth and stability. It symbolizes trust, loyalty, wisdom, confidence, intelligence, faith, truth, and heaven. Blue is considered beneficial to the mind and body.

Welcome to Color My Heart Color Dare #319 where you get to choose your blue.  Will your card be one color like mine or a mix of different blues?

No automatic alt text available.

I chose to play with the new Close to My Heart color Carolina.  It’s a beautiful blue perfect for baby boy cards, birthday cards and just about any other card you might want to make.

My card is a small 4.5 X 4.5 square.  I embossed the Carolina panel with the star confetti to tie it into the sentiment.  I added a few bitty sparkles for a little sparkle, but keeping things very simple.

Now it’s your turn to come and play…the full list of rules is located at the top of the Color My Heart Color Dare page and while you are there take a look at the other design team members cards.  We all work very hard to bring you inspiration each week.

Double Trouble #11

It’s time to “rev up” those engines and get another Double Trouble Challenge underway.  This week Trouble Maker is asking us to use Black & White and only one more color she’s either going to the Cruella Deville look or maybe Rainbow Bright.  Whatever it is she’s going to be a rockstar!!!  Twisted Sister is asking you to pay homage to your man’s “wheel-ie” special toy!  That could be a plain, train or automobile.

I was going to put together a scrapbook page about my husband’s new John Deere, but instead chose to focus on getting a few more birthday cards made before the end of the year.

This card features Black, White & Candy Apple – a brand new Close to My Heart Color.  I was so excited when a real red joined our palette.  The racecar birthday stamp is one of my favorite – although no one in my family is a race enthusiast it’s easy to personalize with a number perhaps depicting the persons age or birth year.

Thing 3 has suggested a link to Crafters Cafe – so I’m off to link up there and hope you’ll find the time to join us in this fun challenge!

Double Trouble #8

Well, Trouble Maker and Double Dare are in the DOG HOUSE…they FORGOT my BIRTHDAY!  I told them it was really ok, that I celebrate for the ENTIRE MONTH and that they could make it up to me with all things that GLITTER!!!

They are trying to make it up to me with a BIRTHDAY PROJECT CHALLENGE!  For an additional entry into our random draw, Double Dare suggests you link up to Pause Dream & Enjoy.  The optional twist is to add GLITTER all forms to your project.

The Documented paper packet was my favorite from the Seasonal Expressions.  I chose to use my favorite papers for my birthday card and included LOTS of glittery accents, Bashful Glitter Paper, Gold Glitter Gems, Bitty Sparkles, Eggplant ribbon with a Gold Stitching and although you can’t see it well in the picture I also used my Gold Shimmer Brush on the vellum leaves under the banner.  That might be sparkly enough!!!

So what’s your birthday project going to look like…I hope it will include some glitter.  Make sure you come along to play with Double Trouble and let us know when your birthday is.

TBT – A Birthday Stash Bashed

It’s my first TBT in August -and my birthday month, along with 5 other people in my family.  When I turned the page in my birthday book I nearly gasped, but I reached into my stash of papers and sat down with this paper and my MIFYH Vol 4.

Although most of these cards are just a simple one layer card – I did use a piece of vellum  to cover all except an oval space declaring “It’s Your Day”.  I thought this was a fun technique to draw your attention to this section of the busy b&t paper.

I considered this stash busted – although I probably could have squeezed another couple of cards out of it, but I just wanted it gone.

A Sunny Birthday

Do you ever wonder what to do with this sheet of paper that comes in your Close to My Heart Paper Packets?

This sheet from the Central Park paper packet is full of bright colors perfect for the popular pocket scrapbooking, but shouldn’t be overlooked for a card.

I added a zip-strip and cut a scallop from the Central Park paper packet along with a little arrow from the July Stamp of the Month that I stamped in Willow.  I dug through my stamps until I could find a Happy Birthday sentiment that would fit.  I added some sequins and then bitty sparkles to bling it up just a bit.  I’ll be delivering some sunshine to a mailbox with this card for sure!
