Choose Happy – SOTM Blog Hop

Welcome to the Stamp of the Month Blog Hop!   We are featuring March’s SOTM, which is “Choose Happy”, a set of 14.

If you have come here from Pam’s, you are on the right path! The blog hop is a great big circle, so you can start here and work your way all around.  If you get lost along the way, you’ll find the complete list of participating consultants on Melinda’s Blog:  http://ifyoublingit.blogspot.com/p/stamp-of-month-blog-hop-list.html.

This month we have over 60 Close To My Heart Consultants sharing their creations using this month’s SOTM and other great CTMH products on their blogs. This is simple to do – just click on the link at the end of the post on each blog to move to the next one! Here we go!

Although I felt this set was initially going to be hard to work with, it didn’t take me long to figure that the frames would work well for both a scrapbook layout or a card.  I chose to go in the card direction (no big surprise there I’m sure).  I looked through the “Wishes” Card Confidence Book that has over 100 card patterns.  I chose two that focused on using a frame.

The first card comes from page 59.  I used the Wooden Frame and added Cricut cut letters from the Artfully sent cartridge to for a fun Father’s Day Card.  I wrapped a piece of bakers twine around to keep the embellishment simple.

My second card is a take of the pattern on page 120.  First I cut the shape from the Art Philosophy Cartridge and then stamped the frame around it.  I placed a piece of B&T from Hopscotch along the bottom inside of the card so that it would show through the opening and then layered the sentiment “Choose Happy” on a pennant to the front of the card.

Time For Memories

It’s been a long time since I’ve worked on scrapbooks and I realized that I’m not going to catch up unless I dedicate some time to them so today I dedicated time for memories.

I’ve needed a cover page for Miss B’s album for ages…while she was missing her album sat in the closet untouched.  It was painful not knowing where she was and I certainly didn’t want to remember all the fun we had when we were together because it only made me miss her more.  I love each of my grandkids, but  Brooke and I have a special bond especially now that she lives with us full-time.

Her school picture matched the Hopscotch papers pretty well, so I decided that was the paper pack I’d start with.  I grabbed Volume 2 of the Make It From Your Heart how-to publication, chose my layout and went to work.

Next I cut an overlay from the Artbooking collection from Glacier and backed it with a B&T from Hopscotch, then I sat back and looked…I didn’t like the one inch strip of circle B&T paper so I increased its size and although Miss B is pretty simple I gave it a bit of glitz with the gold shimmer trim (it doesn’t go all the way across the page – it ends just under the picture to conserve), added a few gold glitter gems and a badge button that matched the paper.

Now for a title…I thought about all the things I love about our girl…she’s sweet, sassy, creative, but most importantly LOVABLE and then I thought about the album – it’s Simply Brooke!  I thought the “You’re the Bomb” stamp set would work so I discussed the title with my DH and he reminded me that she is anything but simple.  I decided that I better start with just her name – which I cut from Artfully Sent (it’s not just for card making) I then looked at the other words in the stamp set and decided that they suited her just fine and then I was done.

If you’d like to catch up on your memory keeping join me for Time for Memories – 2 hours dedicated to scrapbooking one Saturday morning a month.

Hopscotching with Brooke!

So I’ve been wanting to make a banner for over Miss B’s bed for a while, but with her constantly asking what I’m cutting on my Cricut it’s nearly impossible to concentrate on getting anything other than the simplest of things done when she’s home.  So while she’s off at her dad’s this weekend and my Wrangler wearing sweetheart involved in football I decided to sneak into the craft room.

The Hopscotch Picture My Life Cards paired with Paper Fundamentals and the Artfully Sent Cricut Cartridge made it a quick project – I was barely missed 🙂

I used a piece of white Baker’s Twine and some mini wooden clothes pins to hang the cards.  I embellished it simply with gold sequins, gold shimmer trim and durable triangle studs, I can’t wait until she gets home!
