Happy Friday and welcome to another week of the Color My Heart Color Dare. This week we are featuring the colors: Crystal Blue, Pacifica, Sapphire, White Daisy & Black
I was really excited when I saw that Color Dare #264 was a monochromatic (for the most part) color scheme. Then all I could think of was the Wayne Newton song “Red Roses for a Blue Lady” – where do things like that come from? I wondered if I should make blue roses – then I started thinking about a sweater I had in college that was red with large blue roses on it…good grief will I ever get my card made?
I finally headed to my Pinterest boards where I found some inspiration here. I really had to search the perfect Happy Birthday stamp and found it in a retired set (that is why I keep almost ALL of the stamps I buy) I also used the Short & Sweet stamp set one of my favorite sentiment sets and if it’s not in your collection it should be!
I cut my white card front 1/4 inch smaller than my card base. I love the look that added layer gives to a card especially when it’s popped up with some Thin 3D Foam Tape. When I started my card I initially thought I needed to draw lines to keep my sentiment straight, but then I had another idea…I took a thin strip (1/4 inch) of Washi Tape and taped my card down to my Versa Mat and started my first line of Happy Birthday in Crystal Blue, then I turned my mat and stamped in Pacifica and then turned it again and stamped it in Sapphire. My sentiment was stamped in black and I sponged the edges of the banner with Crystal Blue ink. I wrapped a piece of white twine twice and tied it in a knot under the Crystal Blue star which I cut from the Art Philosophy cartridge. A scattering of black dots finished it off.
OK, now it’s YOUR turn! The full details on how to join the fun is in the sidebar of our homepage. Each color dare is open for two weeks to give you plenty of time to link up!
While at the homepage – check out what the other design team members have created and leave them a little love (comments make our day)!
