Color My Heart Color Dare – Red

What things can you think of that are red? My first thought when I saw Color My Heart Color Dare challenge #387 was a firetruck.

You can only use Red with accents of Black & White – no other colors no other neutrals. I grabbed a Candy Apple B&T from a retired Christmas packet and cut a strip of black that I ran through the big shot to get stitched X’s. The firetruck is mounted with thin 3D foam tape on a white stitched circle that is matted with a black circle. Two black dots finish off my card.

It’s been lots of fun being able to spend uninterrupted time in the Craft-Coop during the Stay Home, Stay Healthy order. What have you been doing with your extra time at home?

Double Trouble 14

Well, looks like we all survived our lucky number week and it’s time for more fun!!!

I just found out that I made the Naughty List…seems that November rolls around and I’m always trying to explain to Santa! I’m sure it’s who I hang out with so if you include something that “hangs” – Christmas Lights, Ornament, Stocking, etc in your design your sure to get an extra entry into our drawing for a bag of things and might just make the nice list too!

Double Trouble Challenge #14 has us pairing up with Try Stamping on Tuesday – they have a fun Tic Tac Tuesday challenge that Double Dare has asked us to link up to! Trouble Maker had already asked us to do a holiday card so I killed two birds with one stone.

I chose the diagonal row starting in the upper left hand corner:  Green, Trees & Plaid.  I liked the combination of black & white plaid with the bright willow green.  It had a bit of a modern Christmas twist.  I kept my stamping simple using a retired CTMH Stamp of the Month from 2012 a tree branch with an ornament for my “hanging option”

Here’s the Tic Tac Tuesday board…I can’t wait to see what row you choose.

Make sure you pop on over to Double Trouble to see what the heck is going on – we had a Crazy Cousin (Guest Designer) stop by for the month of November and she’s bringing all kinds of goodies with her.

It’s Your Day Baby – Color Dare #312

Happy Friday!  It’s everyone’s favorite week at the Color My Heart Color Dare!  What colors will you create with from the Color Dare Tic Tac Toe Board?

We are having a little competition amongst the Design Team to recruit players. Please mention me if you decide to come play!!!

No automatic alt text available.

I chose the middle horizontal line for a Baby Girl Birthday card in Ballerina, White Daisy & Charcoal.  I used this sweet card from Becca Whitham.  The Sweet Baby Stamp Set and Dies are retired, but still available in the Going Soon! section on my website, it’s listed as limited quantities so if you want it click here and get it before it’s gone!

I picked the Polka Dot paper from the Seasonal Mix-ins Paper Packet as the base of my card – like Becca I then die cut my wonky piece from a My Favorite Things Blueprint and ran the Ballerina Piece with my Alphabet Embossing Folder (you’ll also find it in the Going Soon section)  All of my stamping (other than the striped balloon) was done in Charcoal Ink.  I really like using a dark gray instead of black with the softer color of Ballerina.  I couldn’t resist coloring in the cheek and toe nails with my Sugarplum Shimmer Pen.

Now it’s your turn to create something using the Tic Tac Toe Board…you can find all the guidelines for joining on our home page and there you’ll find the other projects from our talented Design Team.  As a reminder if you use three or more colors you can link up at the Double Trouble Challenge and if using a Critter (of any kind) you can also link up at the Brown Sugar Challenge.

Dreams – Color Dare 256

Happy Friday and welcome to another week of the Color My Heart Color Dare.  This week we are featuring  the colors: Juniper, Peacock, Pomegranate, Black & White Daisy

I was a bit delayed in getting a graduation card/gift off to my husband’s nephew, but I think I was really just waiting for the right stamp set to come along.  I loved this sentiment stamp that comes with the new Cricut cartridge.  It can be used for so many reasons.  I also used one of my MFT Blue Prints Dies for my card.  Looking at my card again I see some changes I want to make with the next one so you’ll be seeing a repeat of this pattern soon.

OK, now it’s YOUR turn!  The full details on how to join the fun is in the sidebar of our homepage.  Each color dare is open until 9:00 CDT on Thursday!

Special to Me – Color Dare #243

Happy Friday! Can you believe we are almost half way through May and it’s time for the Color Dare again?  This week the Color My Heart Color Dare is featuring the colors:  Blosson, Raspberry, Lagoon, Black, White Daisy & Silver.

My little 4X4 card is just small enough to stick in a computer bag to be found at a later date letting someone know he’s special to me!  I stamped the M sized Dandy stamp on my background and then layered my sentiment on circles I cut with our new thin cuts, a banner cut from our silver shimmer trim finished things off.

OK, now it’s YOUR turn!  The full details on how to join the fun is in the sidebar of our homepage.  Each color dare is open until 9:00 CDT on Thursday!

Rock & Roll Dragonfly – Color Dare #236

Happy Friday and welcome to another week of the Color My Heart Color Dare.  This week we are featuring  the colors: Pacifica, Emerald, Black & White.

I love these deep rich jewel tones, quite different than all the pinks, oranges and lavender I’ve been creating with lately.  My card was quite simple and I used an old favorite rock & roll technique on my dragonfly.

I took a close up so you could maybe see a little better.  First I inked it in black and stamped it and used the thin cut to die cut, then I inked him all up in Emerald and just rolled the tips of the wings in Pacifica die cut and then cut the wings apart and used a tiny bit of foam tape to mount them to the black body.  I finished it off with a couple of black dots on the ends of the wing.

OK, now it’s YOUR turn!  The full details on how to join the fun is in the sidebar of our homepage.  Each color dare is open until 9:00 CDT on Thursday!

Color My Heart #143 – Wedding Bling

Oh how I love Black and White with a touch of bling…in the case of the Color My Heart Dare #143 that bling is Gold.

I needed a wedding card, but also had a little girl watching over my shoulder impatiently telling me what I should do differently, I sent her gardening with her granddad but that didn’t last long so I knew my time was limited.  I turned to the Close to My Heart Artfully Sent Cricut Cartridge and found this cute wedding cake.  I don’t care much for the 5 X 7 cards so I sized it down to 5.5″, then I decided I didn’t want an all black card so I cut it apart and it became the front panel of a white card.  I then cut the ribbons from a piece of Gold Glitter Paper and glued them on with my glue pen.  Super simple.

The inside was stamped with Congratulations and then the wedding ring icon from the same cartridge was cut at 4.25 and mounted underneath.

I cherish my wedding cards and just recently went back and read all the kind wishes.  I hope you have been inspired to take a look at black, white and gold and see what you can make today.
