Lots of Fun

So what are your thoughts on these cute little cards?  I think I’m going to pick a couple and show you how’d I’d use them in an upcoming post.  They are certainly quick and easy to make, a great way to use up scraps and I even experimented with combining some paper packs.

I’ve got more things to create so I will not be too wordy.

Double the Fun

I had a special request to bring the dragonfly stamp out of retirement for one more card class – focusing on the technique that I used on this card.

This one was twice the fun since I also added it the very simple to make Double Z fold card.

For now let’s focus on that dragonfly…it’s actually a very simple technique called Rock & Roll. First I stamped my dragonfly in Whisper Ink and die cut him – I used this as my base.  I then inked up the clean stamp in Glacier Ink and rolled the edges in Juniper to add an additional color to the wings.  This technique works great with a solid stamp.  I then ran that dragonfly through the Big Shot and cut off the wings which I popped up with thin 3D foam tape – I sort of bent them and shaped as I fidgeted with the card to give them some dimension.

I hope you’ll take a minute to try this technique…it really is a simple way to give your cards a little pop!

Rock & Roll Dragonfly – Color Dare #236

Happy Friday and welcome to another week of the Color My Heart Color Dare.  This week we are featuring  the colors: Pacifica, Emerald, Black & White.

 

I love these deep rich jewel tones, quite different than all the pinks, oranges and lavender I’ve been creating with lately.  My card was quite simple and I used an old favorite rock & roll technique on my dragonfly.

I took a close up so you could maybe see a little better.  First I inked it in black and stamped it and used the thin cut to die cut, then I inked him all up in Emerald and just rolled the tips of the wings in Pacifica die cut and then cut the wings apart and used a tiny bit of foam tape to mount them to the black body.  I finished it off with a couple of black dots on the ends of the wing.

Friends with Heart 2 Heart

This week the challenge at Heart 2 Heart Challenges is to use background (random) stamping.  I’m a huge fan of random stamping so I couldn’t resist linking up a project again this week.

I have a friend that is crazy about lady bugs and I’ve been wanting a reason to play with the Dreamin’ Big Cardmaking Stamp Set so I could use the little lady bug.  I started by random stamping a 6X6 piece of white daisy card with the lady bug and dashed line.  I knew I wanted to use the Friends Banner from Flower market so I started looking for a card sketch that fit my needs.

 

This is just a small 4.75 X 3 inch card, but I had lots of fun putting it together.  I finished my card with a white dot added to the center of the flower on the banner and a piece of white twine which I tied around the top of the card.  When you’re stuck for an idea take a look at a challenge blog and see where it takes you.

Dreamin’ with Heart to Heart

I think this week I’ve made up for lost time in the Craft Coop.  I’ve managed to make cards and scrapbook memories.  Over at the Heart to Heart Challenge Blog the challenge is to Dream Big – although it’s left to interpretation I chose to use the Dreamin’ Big Scrapbook Workshop on the Go.

The fun thing about these scrapbook pages for me is that this trip is scrapbooked less than two weeks after it happened!  Now I will admit there was a little last minute push last night to get the photos on the pages before my class today because I wanted to show how fun the papers and layouts are.

The Dreamin’ Big Workshop had the perfect theme for our vacation “Adventure”.  I’ve been to a lot of places, but Arizona is one state that had escaped my radar.  We had a short 5 day trip that was jam-packed with activity including a Mariner’s Spring Training Game.

I know you’re going to say Baseball and Flowers and I’m going to say why not?  What I really hopes catch your attention is that zip strip with the words, explore, dream, discover, play, laugh.  We did all those things when we were in Arizona.

A Cup of Tea-riffic

Happy Friday!  I’m back with another card from the March Stamp of the Month set Tea-riffic.  Have you added this set to your shopping cart?  This set of 11 stamps is one your going to turn to time and time again…it’s the perfect blend of friendship and Mother’s Day.

Today’s card was made using the plain cup colored with the Shin Han Touch Twin markers and then I stamped the sentiment you are tea-rrific in Memento Ink.  The pretty floral background paper is from the Dreamin’ Big paper packet and the XO ribbon is from the Uptown Ribbon Pack.

Stars Shine Bright – Mojo Monday #485

I haven’t taken a lot of time lately to play along with many challenges, but when I saw the Mojo Monday Sketch today I knew exactly what I wanted to do.

Several months ago I had picked up some shaker components from Queen & Company  – they just happened to be a star shape, so I immediately reached for them, unfortunately the seed beads and my acetate have a little static attraction.  The B&T paper is from the Dreamin’ Big Paper Packet from Close to My Heart when I was creating with it the other day it reminded me of constellations.  I wanted one last star effect for this card so I reached for the Star Confetti Embossing Folder.

Joyful Stars Blog Hop – No Bunny

 

Welcome to the Joyful Stars February Blog Hop.  If you’ve come here from Nickie’s blog you are on the right path, but if you’re starting here that’s fine, too.  We’re a circular hop so keep clicking on the links at the end of each post and eventually you’ll end up right where you started.

This month I’m featuring a card using the February Stamp of the Month – Easter Bunny.  This set includes a bunny family, a basket and some adorable sentiments all for just $5 US with a qualifying purchase.

My card was inspired by one from my friend Debi – we exchange Stamp of the Month cards and I loved the one she made me so once again I copied selectively (mostly the dots paper from the Dreamin’ Big paper packet).

I decided that I would do a swing card cut from the Cricut Artistry cartridge – there’s a selection of swing cards and using the Cricut makes it so easy!  I have a list of the coordinating shapes so layered up a few papers and as Mumfred the Magician from Sesame Street would say “a la peanut butter sandwich” I had a cute card with wow factor.

The fun thing about the swing card is when you open it the image changes – in this case to the sentiment.
